RIVEX: Boots. And. Hearts
I can hardly say I'm surprised that my head is still spinning after the absolute whirlwind of a weekend that was Boots and Hearts. I've done a lot of work this summer, tons of prep and even more practice, but there was no way I could have prepared myself for all of the craziness that those 4 days would have have in store.
Of course, most of it is thanks to this guy:
To plainly say Johnny is a DJ, is like saying a rubik's cube is just a puzzle. Both represent a nearly endless possibility for learning new ways to approach situations, and similarly, both can also require a certain degree of stamina to keep up with.
For example, instead of being happy with rocking two residencies as a DJ, AND being signed on as an official artist at Canada's biggest country festival, he would help Honey Bunches of Oats energize the whole festival each morning of boots.
Now, you may be thinking... ok, a breakfast activation... that's not that wild- to which I agree. Though the thing about the breakfast activation is that began at 8am each day.
This would not be overtly a problem, save for the fact that Johnny and I were up until about 5am every day working on crafting the BEST after party boots had ever seen.
I've seen a lot of parties- hell, most of the time it's my job to remember them... but I have NEVER seen a party that came even close to what Johnny was able to throw down each night of the festival.
I have no idea how the dude did it.
To rise every morning at 7am, and stay wired all the way through till about 4:30 or 5 without the use of narcotics is beyond me... The only thing I've come up with is that not all heroes wear capes... some wear headphones.
And what about me? While Johnny was off kicking ass and taking names, did I just sit around idly twiddling my thumbs?
I'd like to think not.
I've boiled down my top 5 memories/experiences/things that happened that were really cool and am excited to share a little more about them on this blog.
